I wrote over at DC Metro Moms today about the communal sense of well-being I get when other moms meet their own needs. Finding the time to do your toes? Eating a salad with ingredients your children loathe? Writing your dissertation? Working out for more than the absolute-minimum cardiofest? It's called A Victory for All Moms. Click this link to read it.
Also? CBoy, the dog and I all managed to find happiness at the community garden today. Two out of the three animals surveyed got to play in the hose. The largest mammal got to plant haricots verts. Wish me no frost! No frost!

I don't think you have to worry. We're well past our average last frost date of 4/15, and I think I heard recently that we hadn't had a freeze since 3/9 (though I can't find the info. to verify that).
My spinach is finally ready to pick this week, and the broccoli, cauliflower and chard are coming along nicely. Peppers, potatoes and possibly tomatoes are going into the ground this weekend. Hurray for spring!
Thanks De! I have been picking lettuce for salads this past week, but our broccoli, cauliflower, arugula and peas are *not* coming along nicely! ;) They may have been (completely) neglected during the birthday madness. Oh well, I have high hopes for the basil, parsley, lemongrass and oregano I just put in (seedlings/transplants). I am with you on the peppers, potatoes, and tomatoes! Also maybe zukes. Such a great time of YEAR!!
*no frost* *no frost*
Me~time is what blogging is all about for me, and I was feeling a little guilty about the mess around the place until I read this post.
Thanks, Mamabird!
